Welcome
Mindsoma is about health but it is not conventional website giving you conventional health information.
Good health is our most important asset. But there is more to good health than just conquering disease. In 1946 the World Health Organisation defined human health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’. Although there has been much debate about this definition (particularly about the word ‘complete’) the principle remains the same now as it did then.
Wellbeing is a feeling deep inside us. It is not something which can be conjured up at will and is not directly linked to our higher thinking processes. Health service providers focus on the detection of disease processes and providing treatment designed to effect a ‘cure’. The role of the individual and, in particular, the role of the mind is not considered as a major player. And yet, it is realised, even among traditional medical care providers that certain aspects of a person’s life, for example whether they have significant stress, can influence illness or even give rise to disorders such as heart disease.
There is a power within each one of us to influence our own heath. We need to ensure that this influence is for the benefit of our health, not to the detriment of our health.
